Corrupted flacs... wondering what happened

Hello!

I've recently been ripping + flac'ing my audio collection and it appears all the flacs i've made are now corrupt. I was just wondering if someone could help identify why so I can avoid it in future.

The messages I'm receiving are mostly :

<filename>*** Got error code 0:FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_ERROR_STATUS_LOST_SYNC
<filename> *** Got error code 2:FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_ERROR_STATUS_FRAME_CRC_MISMATCH

<filename>: ERROR while decoding data
                        state = FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_END_OF_STREAM
<filename>: ERROR while decoding data
                        state = FLAC__STREAM_DECODER_READ_FRAME

(running flac -t to test)

I created the original wave files using cdparanoia with the options :
cdparanoia -e -B -v -z --

I encoded them with the standard flac (no options) :
flac *wav

(should I have used other options here? )

I added the tags after using Amarok - could that have caused problems?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

Hmmm -V looks like it would have been a good idea!

I guess I didn't really think of the possibility of errors for some reason

I'll re-rip and try flac -V and see what errors if any it gives...

edit :- no errors at all!! man, this is confusing... anyone have any ideas?

I've solved the problem! It was Amarok's generation of tags causing the STREAM_DECODER_END_OF_STREAM messages. The others I think could have been genuine, but I'll deal with them as I come across them during the re-encode (and use -V throughout to verify).

I re-ripped a cd, flac'd it, tested the flacs with -t - worked fine- then added tags via Amarok's interface, tested with -t and all of them had the messages.

Thanks anyway!

it may be adding id3 tags, that's a no-no
