CD ripping with Foobar2000?

I have been using either EAC or dBpoweramp to rip my CDs but am trying to see if I can get the same good results with Foobar2000.

First, is there any way to spin up a CD before ripping it with Foobar?

What's the difference in the three modes of ripping? I take it the first level is like "burst," the second like "secure," but what is "paranoid"?

Third, do *you* trust Foobar to rip your CDs all right?

Thanks.

I trust it as much as EAC, personally, but the powers-that-be don't seem to trust anything without AccurateRip.

When a disc has had rip errors, foobar2000 reported it. If it's ripped properly, no error. Good enough for me. Plus it's just less hassle overall.

The different rip modes simply indicate how many times foobar2000 re-reads a track to ensure that there are no rip errors. Paranoid is roughly equivalent to EAC's Test and Copy mode in terms of over-reading, though the way foobar2000 and EAC rip discs is different. foobar2000's technique simply reads more data than the drive buffers and so overcomes the issue of buffering and non-buffering drives.

I don't know about spinning the CD up before ripping it. I don't think it should affect rip quality one way or another.

I use foobar2000 to rip my cd's never had a problem yet. I am no expert by any means when it comes to lossless/perfect, rips. But if i don't hear anything wrong i assume i am fine and i carry on. I ripped like 20 cd's no problem on my end. I tried some of the different modes, seem to give me the same result. Shall, i run into a problem i will re-rip with EAC to check for the cause. So, i trust it.
