Drag and Drop from Windows Explorer no working in Win8

Hello all,

Recently I've upgraded my system into Win8 (x64) and successfully installed foobar2000 with my previous settings back in Win7 (x64).

Everything seems to be working fine, except that I'm not able to "Drag and Drop" files from Windows Explorer folders into foobar2000, which is a feature that I personally use very much. The "Not available" cursor appears when trying to add new files this way.

The first time, I installed foobar2000 v1.2.1 but recently upgraded into the new v1.2.2 still having no luck with "Drag and Drop".
I have even tried with a fresh install (no previous settings) but had no luck either.

I'm also using "Columns UI" interface version 0.3.8.8 with my custom settings.

The only scenario where I had success is by doing "Drag and Drop" after opening "Add files..." option inside foobar.

Is there a way to make the "Drag and Drop" files from Windows Explorer folders functionality available in Windows 8?

Thanks in advance, and please let me know if I'm missing any info.

Best regards,

Are you running either foobar2000 or Windows Explorer elevated to Administrator privileges? Drag and drop doesn't mix with that.

Thanks a lot kode54, you just nailed into the source of the problem

I have to admit that I had a very strange configuration. When I started using foobar back in 2009, I did a portable installation and after a Standard installation to have access to the Shell integration, but all the files were kept stored in the Program Files folder and did not had any security restriction back in my earlier version of Win7.

And because of the previous, I tried to install foobar the same way in Win8, but I know that since some updates of Win7, there are some security restrictions that don't allow the programs to modify files in Program Files or store files in C:\ for instance, so I gave Admin rights to foobar in Win8.

Right now, I've moved the required files of my configuration into the Roaming folder and its working great along with Drag and Drop back

Thanks again for the tip!

I'm having this same problem, but I'm not running FB2K or Windows Explorer with admin privileges. Anyone have any other suggestions? I first noticed the problem after upgrading to Win8 as well.
