So songs that I download come with artwork embedded within the .mp3 (there is no visible .jpg or .gif). In itunes I could just right click on the picture in the album art display panel and the option "delete" would be there. In Foobar I'm having problems getting rid of this unwanted artwork. How can I get rid of this "invisible artwork"?

You need to do this outside of Foobar.
Many tag programs will work. I use mp3tag. http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ And many others use TagScanner http://www.xdlab.ru/en/ terry This post has been edited by tpijag: Apr 7 2009, 02:48 |

To do it in foobar open the properties for the tracks with embet artwork, select and copy all metadata then tools>remove tags and tools>paste fields.

OK I tried smkk's way and it didn't work... I used mp3tag and just overwrought the embedded art with my own.

Guys_eyes,
In effort to maintain accurate info, I can confirm that smkk's method does work work. Select all tracks >right click > properties > select all properties page fields > right click> copy. Tools [at the bottom left corner of properties dialog] > remove tags Riight Click > paste. [your previously save tags minus the art will be put back whence they once were] Mp3tag is a little more comforting as you can see the artwork, see it disappear and / or see the change shown in a custom -embedded artwork- column terry This post has been edited by tpijag: Apr 7 2009, 19:57 |

lokioki: It can. Read the thread. It's just not intuitive and you loose other metadata too e.g. stored replay gain values. To the original poster: Instead of having to copy the metadata it is sufficient to leave the properties dialog open, use the Remove Tags command, change a tag in the properties dialog to make sure the Apply button becomes active and apply the changes. It's a little safer since it protects you from accidental clipboard overwrites . |

If it's an MP3 you can also change tagtype from id3v2 to apev2 (and back) in process of tagconversion you loose the albumart, but keep RG and all other tags.

I just use MP3tag if I want to export the embedded album art to folder.jpg
