yep, listen to the metallic string lead thing.  Pretty interesting.

using lame 3.96 mmx downloaded from rarewares.org  --alt-preset standard.  I can abx it easy 7/7 (foobar2000)... I really only need to hear the first 0.5 seconds to get it on grado headphones out of some cheap laptop's on-board sound.

is it really just me? hmm..

I also just focused on the first second... It's incredibly easy to detect (and I had trouble abx'ing on the 128 kbs test... thats why i didn't participate  )

ABX'ed using 3.90.3 too. Same problem

It's easy if you listen carefully to the first 0,5s
APS-Encode add "vibrato" on the sting sound.

Hello!

Another abx result from me

Tested with LAME 3.90.3

- aps (11/11) , distorted sound
- ape (17/20) , better quality and harder to abx
- api failed to abx

Wow, one of the easiest ABXs I've ever done with (alt) preset standard. I consider the sample butchered by both 3.96 and 3.90.3.

3.96ps vs. original - 8/8
Sounds horrible. Adds a vibrato effect.

3.90.3aps vs. original - 8/8
Equally as horrible. Adds same vibrato effect.

3.96V1 vs. original - 10/11
Sounds much better, but still ABXable.

3.96pe vs. original - 8/8
Sounds better than V1, but still ABXable.

3.90.3ape vs. original - 13/16
Very close to original, but still ABXable.

This is another reason for me to use at least 3.96 V1...
