The purpose of most 16x16 icons isn't to give "explicit" information, but to just visually make various filetypes distinguishable

I agree with you on this. The black face, is related to (lossless audio codecs) and the white face is (lossy codecs, and or general file type related icons, playlist's etc...) And color makes it distinguishable face color, and overall icon color.

Not much left now. Sorry, I got other projects and not much time on the side. Just a couple more icons and changes. I took note of the black face+blurry effect. Will re-work these.

Great work. The mouth looks so cute
Are you gonna do the 16x16 icons as well? It will take some extra work but 16x16 icons are necessary.

Hi there!

Wonderful icons! Because I couldn't wait until you release the finished set, I already made my own based on your "beta" versions, which leads to my nexts question: As many people here seem to be quite anxious for these icons, i wanted to ask if i could post my set here?
Of course the full credits belong to you, as the icons are heavily based an yours, as I said.

Sure, why not? You can always edit your post later and remove them. HOWEVER you can NOT release them until you get Luceos' permission to release his logo design with your design. But a screen shot, would be nice for the time being.

Well, sure, a screenshot shouldn't be a problem. As I said, I don't want to release them under my name, as it's his design... (And his icons are better anyway, mine are only quick&dirty... Finished them in 1 hour today)

OK, here's the sreenshot:

What about these ones from deviant art? They are the best rendering of Foobar2000 logo ever seen:

Well, these icons are surely quite nice, but not quite usable for all filetypes... If I am not mistaken, the icons are made for the usage in docks... Furthermore, there are only 2 icons in the pack, but to cover all filetypes many more are needed...

Sry, but I've never seen an uglier icon (for foobar2k),...

And I have to say, the iconset from Luceo is really nice instead!

Hey sorry for the slow updates guys, the last thing I really need is the CDA, the 16x16, which have to be made separately without the file-type bar at the bottom to render correctly, and of coarse the program icon itself. Once I am completely done I will make .ico's out of them, and post them for everyone to enjoy.

good news, glad to know this will be a completed project some day soon

Simple and clean CDA using a slightly modified version of ActiveThoughts CD design.

Looks nice on the first sight... on the second I would think that the CD looks distorted, which is I suggest is an optical illusion caused by those two circles overlapping each other...

Yeah, it might be an optical illusion. However, I don't think at icon size that will be an issue.

I made my own versions of his icons (aliencat logo) about a week ago. I couldn't wait either.. and now its been a while and no icons by him ^^
I'm sure he'll post them when he finds time, not sure when will that be though. I'm happy with mine =)

He's pretty busy, so I guess he will post them when he finishes them. I'll patiently wait until then.

Ok guys, everything is ready, and I have the program to make Icons (Icon Workshop). I just need to know exactly what we need and how I go about making them, as I have never made Icons before. Thanks.

This is all I could find

The full set of standard icon sizes which should be provided for full Windows Vista compatibility:

  1. 256×256, 32-bit color, PNG compressed
  2. 256×256, 8-bit color, PNG compressed
  3. 256×256, 4-bit color, PNG compressed
  4. 48×48, 32-bit color, uncompressed
  5. 48×48, 8-bit color, uncompressed
  6. 48×48, 4-bit color, uncompressed
  7. 32×32, 32-bit color, uncompressed
  8. 32×32, 8-bit color, uncompressed
  9. 32×32, 4-bit color, uncompressed
  10. 16×16, 32-bit color, uncompressed
  11. 16×16, 8-bit color, uncompressed
  12. 16×16, 4-bit color, uncompressed

This should be in each ico file.

Never made icons either and I have 2 left hands when it comes to art.  But you can probably open the current foobar files in icon workshop and see how they are made or at least what they contain.
