How do you perform tests like this, specifically detecting C1 errors?

I was interested in this program too, so I did a search on google.

The program is called WSES or something like that and comes with LiteOn drives. It only works in DOS and it's not availble somewhere for download. I could be wrong, because all the info was from a japanese page...

Does anyone know a similar program that shows C1/C2 errors? I've tried Nero CDSpeed but it only shows the read-speed of the CD.

I think a special hardware is needed to detect C1 errors. Nero CDSpeed, EAC, etc, only have access to C2 errors (when the drive support C2 info !).

Maybe LiteOn drives can return C1 errors when a special driver is used (this DOS program) or maybe a customized LiteOn drive for Bler analyzing workstations was used.
In both cases, maybe it's a special firmware that is used for the drive.

It's just a normal Lite-On drive.  I have this program and can do this, too.  If you do a search for WSES (no, it doesn't come with the drive), you're bound to come up with a download link sometimes.  Someone slipped it out the door under the condition that it wouldn't be posted for public download.  You might have to ask someone privately.

Only a couple of drive makes are known to support C1 info reporting. The rest either don't, or the program for C1 checking is kept secret.

I am not aware of any MMC standards for obtaining C1s, so it's probably different for each drive make.

The real challenge will be for someone to figure out how to get the C1 info from the drives (meaning direct hardware access outside of ASPI, possibly with a custom device driver) in a Windows environment for enhanced viewing/saving. I'd do it myself, but I'm having a difficult time as it is writing simple text-only console apps.

I've gotten error rates out of Taiyo Yuden discs that equal (or better--I'd have to double-check, though) Mitsui's discs when I burn TY at 4X (seems best for audio).
