I've got a Quadraflex Reference 240R receiver (from the 80s or early 90s most likely) along with some Optimus (a Radioshack brand I think) 3-way speakers, form the 90s I think. I have the receiver hooked up to the line out of my computer's sound card. Not exactly legendary equipment, but it sounds *excellent* to my ears. The only thing missing are super-low frequencies (below about 30 hertz) but I honestly don't notice it except on a few hip hop tracks. I guess I could buy a subwoofer at some point in time.

Sound Dynamics 500 Concert Monitors. Not the greatest but they get the job done. I think I've owned them since the late 1980s.

PC > Phonic Helixboard 24 Universal (HD audio) > Yamaha A-760 > Canton GLE-70 for studio purposes (I also own Behringer TRUTH B2031P, but i don't like bass reflex speakers)
PC (HD audio) > Yamaha A-760 > Infinity RSIII for homecinema purposes I hope to build an Hypex-based amplifier some time in the future... This post has been edited by forart.eu: Jan 3 2010, 10:36 |

3 Revel Salon2s (front) and 6 Revel Gem2s (surrounds). They are hidden behind an acoustically transparent screen and in columns around the room.
I have a Windows 7 64bit connected to a Denon AVP using the HDMI cable from my Crossfire'd pair of HIS Radeon 5970s. I let the Denon do all of the processing of the audio and just pass the signals to it directly via the HDMI. ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by QueueCumber: May 27 2010, 19:14 |

Western Digital HD TV
LG DVD player Denon 1909 AVR Harbeth C7ES3 WD HDTV and the very cheap DVD player are both connected to the Denon AVR via HDMI. The Denon AV processor and amplifier is the heart of the system. It is true value for money for what it does. What makes the most difference is the Harbeth speaker. The mid-range clarity is phenomena. My re0 headphone is meant to be a very revealing headphone, but it is no comparison to Harbeth. No even close. Harbeth is of thin walled cabinet design. The cabinet 'breathes' quite a lot of low bass. It sounded like there is a real cello or piano in the living room - rich and full of texture. It is simply a very enjoyable speaker. |

The 5 foot ribbons need a repair on one of the baffles, so for now: PSB Images with a NHT 1259 based sub.
