Artec/Ricoh CDR/RW drive

i have bid on a 48x burner on ebay for a measly 13.50 (dutch auction).  it is the brand called artec.  I found a review about it and it was very favorable, especially for the price, and nearly performed as well as tdk and lite-on.  the review was for hte 32x model, but i would assume they are based on the same formula (i hope i am right in this assumption).  Anyhow, the review said it was based on a Ricoh chipset... i remember ricoh being a strong quality contender in the early days of CD burning... are they still generally well respected and accepted?

i am just wondering because it seems this is a great deal, and i hope i ge tmore htan my monies worth!
