MAREO 2.x discussion topic..

MAREO 4 has been released. http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=44559

After more than 6 months on the making MAREO 2.2.0 is out!

MAREO (dizziness in spanish) is a (GPL) application that can be configured as a CD ripper's (command line) encoder. MAREO can then be instructed to call multiple encoders for each track ripped.  It is mostly used, for example, to rip to FLAC (for archival) and MP3 (for MP3 Player use), or to MPC (for PC playing) and to Ogg Vorbis (for portable playing).

What's new:
* mareo can now be run mutiple times, if loggin to file is disabled.
* new (in progress) home page!

MAREO 2.2.0

It cames pre-configured, and has been tested to work with: WaveGain, WAPET, LAME MP3, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack, iTunes (w/iTunesEncode), QuickTime Pro (w/Qutibacoas), Nero AAC (w/NAACenc), FLAC, True Audio Software (TTA), OptimFROG (with correction file), WavPack v4 (hybrid with correction file).

NOTE: multi-thread support should be ready to test on the next version, based on 2.0.

THNKS to all who participated with the testing/sugestions!

PLEASE: POST Questions / BUGs  here ONLY!

I understand your enthusiasm and value your works which you offer others for free, but maybe a stupid question: does the title have to be in all-caps? You know - thats considered yelling on the net - and as we've found out "louder isn't better" ;-)

i didn't pay attention ... even then all caps is how 90% of the titles get writen on newspapers and such ... and as you can see, the subtitle is all lower ... but if it bothers you so much, ask some moderator to change it ... it doesn't matters to me ... btw ... MAREO is allways all caps ...

not to be picky (and a bit off topic), but your MAREO page states that Ogg Vorbis is "best music encoder".  It is only been tested to be the best lossy codec @ 128kbps, i believe.  Of course, its still your webpage.

MAREO is an acronym for Multiple Applications Runner for EAC and Others.
AFAIK, MAREO is correct.

kwanbis, many thanks.
I look forward to testing new possibilities.

Bye, tec

Concerning newspapers - if all newspapers to you consinst only of boulevard pages, then you're right. However, with over 600 posts, i'm sure you figured out that this is a forum on the internet, not a newspaper - and possibly also noticed that 0% of the other news-posts are written in all-caps for a reason. It could be that you don't care about the  [a href="http://www.albion.com/netiquette/book/0963702513p61.html]Netiquette[/url] - still, its a simple matter of respect: some people do not like to be yelled at. Besides, if everyone would have your attitude, then the forums would become much more difficult to read.

edit: to clarify things, the topic has been changed already - originally, the entire title was in caps, not just the acronym MAREO.

I have waited for this release, thank you. (once i got together a batch script, for apply wavegain to a dir. prior to encoding, i wanted to translate it for use in eac,
but lost focus.) One minor totally n00b question. (i have read documentation, but it`s very likely i am on another planet.) I wan`t to runn wavegain prior to lame/mpc.
How exactly would i go about that.

plz.tut. me.

sorry to respond here, but i'm sure many other would like to know ... so after i started writing the answer, i realized i have overlooked something (too much for the 6 months  ) ... basically the problem is that if you run a pre-processor (what wavegain really is), the next encoder order should be run like if the pre-processor never existed ...

so here you go ... MAREO 2.0.1

to respond your question then, with MAREO 2.0.1, you only setup the wavegain encoder order, and then the next one as normal, as if the wavegain one never existed.

note that this "overlook" only afects people wanting to use a pre-processor like wavegain.

also ... i have put MAREO 1.5.1 and 2.0 on the page for historic purposes

I would use this app if foobar2000 didn't exist.  I find it easy enough to just transcode after I have all my files ripped and verified that they are consistent rips.

yes ... foobar2000 is good also ... same for dbpoweramp ... but MAREO knows some tricks that the others not (for now at least) ... like hybrid encoders ... and pre-processing with wavegain for example ... there is a place for all

Missing Preprocessor: mp3gain?

mp3gain would be a "post-processor", cause it is run after the mp3 process ...

hmm. i was looking forward to wavegain my files before i encoded, but i runned it last night. Application error in mareo, the wav got extracted with filename, after the first prossesbar was full, it started prossesing, then the mareo error and a bip laugh.gif the eac "command" window told me everything went fine, but the track wasn`t gained or compressed. btw. i tried with or without, do this prossesing only work with the set ini presets,! and why can wavegain only use --radio.!!. As i said, i must be on another planet, coz. i can`t get it to work as it should. (can you post a pic. in your thread or web, on config. in eac), sure i must have done something wrong.

please, posrt requests here, so it can help all the people ... look at MAREO's home page, there are screen shots now
