When one is to reference the syntax; the scripting language; those bits of text to which foobar2000 acts as a compiler{*1}, reading users’ ad-hoc as an intelligible, meaningful instruction (i.e. the incredible nature of this scripting engine, not to mention the implementation thereof in other software, such as mp3tag [to name merely one which specifically references foobar2000]), as is pervasive throughout this forum, indeed; as [we] create-from-nothing, but an idea. result in "some action is performed", whether that action is to affect the audible experience, or the visual.

You get it. What is the proper name, for the scripting language?

Some text editors; syntax highlight nicely as C#, for example, while others look decent if you call it javascript. Clearly, it is not javascript-- at least not the sort which Crockford might advocate.

Methinks: behold! here must extrapolate: a year without date, or a date with no year, a sweet division of work between function, and the form defaulting toward the use of the square-bracket chars (at least, as i knew it to be, once, a sort-of conditional logic wrought in the use thereof, ah-- but now i see this Function-dollar-sign, and that F'n made all the difference-- first, having thought a higher-logic had drawn some exquisite ternary expression, now I have reckoning.

Alas, is this not yet an example of the potentially problematic ambiguity, pervasive through the varous foobar2000 scripting mechanisms? I know nothing.

(just trying to get the gawdajgm extension portion of the filename -- thought it was %filename_extn%, but damn'd if it didn't do it, and... i know there's some advanced, orchestral maneuvers (in the dark, as it were), to arrive at such simple things. who's that jive turkey?
