Esc key as a keyboard shortcut

Hi all.

Recently switched from 0.92 to 0.95.
In 0.92, I used to use the Esc key as a shortcut to minimize fb2k from the playlist.
I did not manage to set up 0.95 the same way however.

In 0.92, the 'Key' inputbox from the 'Keyboard shortcuts' dialog had a right-click menu, which allowed selection of special keys (Esc, Tab, Enter).
Looks like the menu was removed...

Is there an other way to set the Esc key as a keyboard shortcut in 0.95 ?

TIA,

Nicolas.

I've had a look at this again, and it comes the "special keys" menu disappeared between 0.9.4 and 0.9.5.
A collateral damage of all the UI changes that went in 0.9.5 I guess.

Hope to see it back soon!

FWIW, this feature is still missing in v0.9.5.1 beta 2.

[2008-01-15 15:53:12] <Thief|wrk> hey, is it possible to minimize foobar on ESC? maybe using some third party component?
[2008-01-15 15:57:17] <@Neptune> You can't.
[2008-01-15 15:57:41] <@Neptune> It closes the preferences dialog.
[2008-01-15 15:57:58] <@DEATH> Binding ESC would ruin usability of random dialogs.
[2008-01-15 15:58:20] <@DEATH> It's disabled on purpose.
[2008-01-15 15:59:29] <Thief|wrk> so i thought and asking about existence of a component with this function.
[2008-01-15 16:03:25] <Thief|wrk> ok, i'll live with Shift+Esc for activate/hide command. thanks for input

Full-quoting makes you scroll past the same junk over and over.

It is intentional that keys that are used for keyboard navigation in dialogs and complex windows (like the 0.9.5 Default UI) cannot be bound to custom keyboard shortcuts.

Nico57:
Read the irc log Yirkha pasted.  @DEATH is Peter, the creator of foobar. Whatever he says goes.

EDIT: read post above for better explanation.

The same argument applies for TAB I guess? I hoped it would be possible to bind Ctrl+TAB and Ctrl+Shift+TAB to switch back and forth between playlists.

My argument for this would be that the probably most spread application that uses tabs (i.e. Firefox) uses this shortcut for tab switching and I would find it quite intuitive to use this shortcut for the same task in foobar2000.

Tab moves the keyboard focus.

Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab switch between tabs or playlist tabs when pressed in a contained element.

Shortcuts like that just work, they don't need to and cannot be assigned manually.

Oh, I get it.
Sorry Yirkha, I skipped the whole log as I thought it was your signature. :-I
It makes sense now. Thanks.

Sounds like bad news.
I got used to the "close to tray on Esc" behavior, which also works on µTorrrent and eMule.
Oh well, I'll stick to 0.9.4 for now.
I haven't got used to the new interface yet anyway.

Thanks all for shedding some light on this.
