EAC Ripping Question

I just downloaded EAC V1.0 beta 3 and am having some set up issues. Wondering if anyone can assist?

I have used the basic functions of a few past versions of EAC with no problems. I am using this SW exclusive to rip my CDs and convert to FLAC.

I used an online tutorial to set my preferences. http://blowfish.be/eac/

Under EAC>Compression Options>External Compression where you fill in the box "additional command-line options", it was suggested to cut and paste a string of characters  (-V -8 -T "artist=%a" -T "title=%t" -T "album=%g" -T "date=%y" -T "tracknumber=%n" -T "genre=%m" %s ) which did not end up working. I have left this section blank for the time being.

When I have been testing my rips with my current settings everything looks good and I see a successful message at the end of the rip. My process is to Detect Gaps, Create a CUE sheet, and then Copy selected tracks compressed. However the resulting rip is producing WAV files not FLAC files.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
