I've updated to Winamp 5.57 and it crashes when playing my WV files. Previous version (5.56) worked fine, both MPC-HC and WMP play these files with no problem. I tried clean Winamp install and latest Winamp Essentials but the issue persists. I also made a post about this at Winamp forums: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=...threadid=315498
I also found that it doesn't happen with all WV files, only with some albums. You can download the song here (I chose the smallest one **** Any help would be appreciated.
Reason for edit: Removed link to copyrighted music

I've updated to Winamp 5.57 and it crashes when playing my WV files. I have whole albums encoded to wv, with .cue file. With cueplayer http://cueplayer.extra.hu/ works well. Winamp craches when I trying to play wv directly. This post has been edited by kikke: Dec 20 2009, 14:04 |

I also got an e-mail from a user this morning reporting this issue, and he claims that it only happens with WavPack files that have the "genre" metadata tag set. Can anyone else verify that?
I'll upgrade to 5.57 and see if I can reproduce. Thanks for bringing this to my attention... David |

I confirm this: I deleted "genre" tag and Winamp doesn't crash when playing that WavPack file.

I'm not exactly sure if this is a winamp bug or a bug in my plugin, but here is a plugin that seems to fix the problem for now.
Thanks again for reporting, and please let me know if there's any more trouble. David |

Any chance that you are also using the last.fm / audioscrobbler winamp plugin?
