I like MTRH's cat. It combines the look of an old, knowledgeable wizard with a beard with that of a cat.
I'm disappointed to see a lack of goat avatars though. -------------------- Happiness - The agreeable sensation of contemplating the misery of others.

Hi folks,
being a huge cat lover myself, I now present you my first avatar model Sunny, one of my friendly neighbours. He's a gentle giant of a mackerel tabby, and runs out to greet me with a vigorous rub whenever I pass his house [and he is not asleep inside.] For all his might he races back inside at the slightest hint of a passing vehicle Cats and me go a bit of a ways back. There was a stage when we had thirteen cats in the house and that was when my dad finally lost it - 11 of them were dumped at the local fish market. While I love dogs a lot, I've always regarded a cat's love as more valuable, as it's something you earn rather than being granted outright no strings attached. Anyway - that's life. Enjoy it |

Yet another cat avatar. Seriously, as a cat lover, I was thinking long ago to upload a cat picture for my avatar, and this tread simply speeded up the things.
It's strange phenomenon, this with cat avatars. I suspect there is something in common with cat loving and music loving. Who knows? My avatar comes from a nice joke with different cute cat pictures named "The Morning After", if you are curious & like cats, you can download it from here Hope you like it. |

Well, I gave in to peer pressure and had to have a cat avatar too. But I didn't want to give up my Pink Floyd-related avatars, either, so now I have both.
Meet Boomer, one of my parents cats. I was visiting them when I took this picture, and was using my notebook PC in their workroom when Boomer was curled up at my feet (being a workroom explains the spots on the carpet). So I laid my Animals CD case next to his head and snapped a picture. Just consider him "Track #6" 1 - Pigs on the Wings (part one) 2 - Dogs 3 - Pigs (three different ones) 4 - Sheep 5 - Pigs on the wing (part two) 6 - Cats (big fat ones) Edit: Well, I've since changed my avatar again. This one's not obviously not a cat. If it is, he has a bad disease. This post has been edited by ScorLibran: Aug 30 2003, 01:17 |

Why does people like cats more than dogs? Do you see any reason? I think dog is smarter, more beneficial (guard, trace) and loyal. I'm not fan of dog or something, because my parents don't like pets. But if I imagined having a pet, I will have a dog.

Cats are DEFINATELY smarter. They don't smell as much, they don't need CONSTANT attention and they don't beg.
Those are the reasons . . . . personally I like dogs better too, though -------------------- gentoo ~amd64 + layman | ncmpcpp/mpd | wavpack + vorbis + lame

QUOTE (music_man_mpc @ Aug 28 2003, 08:05 PM) ...and they don't beg. Excuse me but... have you ever had a cat? Cats beg all the time. The difference is that while cats are cute and cuddly when begging, dogs are flat out annoying and noisy. And they smell too. Cats smell nice. I've always had a grudge against dogs though, since I was attacked by two (simultaneously) as a little kid (they bit me in the arse no less). Oh, and chicks dig cats. This thread gave me a good laugh.
I was actually tempted to mix my current avatar with my old cat's picture in Photoshop, but after thinking about it some more I've resisted. -------------------- ruxvilti'a

(I've actually seen one, in Sweden (!). And like Latin, Swedish also has a felicious name for it, literally translating to 'catbear'.) -------------------- geocities.com/hydrogenaudio: http://goo.gl/tqYZj

Soon... haha!
I just thought I'd do something in honour of Lonesome George for a while. What a guy! Besides, tortoises are another animal, besides cats, whose approach to life resembles my own in many ways. |

Is this your subtle way of confessing that, like Lonesome George, your lifestyle involves attempted breeding by mating a different but related (sub-)species?
