WMA 9.1 audio settings VBR meanings? |

I started messing with dBpowerAMP, and it has a setting for Window Media Audio v9.1 as :
VBR Quality 98, 44kHz, stereo VBR VBR Quality 90, 44kHz, stereo VBR VBR Quality 75, 44kHz, stereo VBR VBR Quality 50, 44kHz, stereo VBR VBR Quality 25, 44kHz, stereo VBR VBR Quality 10, 44kHz, stereo VBR THis might be a stupid question, but are the 98,90,75,50,25,10 some type of percentage of quality of the original? |

For some reason, though they claim "CD quality at 64kbps", their 100% quality reference is much higher than 64kbps. It's been so long since I last used WMA, I'm really just guessing here, but I think it was 192kbps. So much for truth in advertising. This post has been edited by NeoRenegade: Dec 25 2005, 06:10 |

I have obtained good results using Q 75, for classical orchestral produces around 160 ~ 180 kbps average, for piano solo depends on volume, can range from 80 to 180 kbps average. Sound quality is good, much less artifacting (beeps, clicks, etc.) than the CBR settings. I have not tried it for pop music. |
