So I have files that are recorded automatically by a headless server into MP3s. That means level setting is slightly difficult. What I want to do is to be able to play the file simultaneously as it's being written (just like VLC and Windows Media Player can), but use foobar2000's meters to see/set my levels. Is it possible?
From what I've tried, all I have gotten was a Sharing Violation Error. This post has been edited by tropicalfish: Jan 24 2011, 06:47 |

Bump, no one knows?
Can foobar2000 not play a file that is being written to like WMP or VLC can? |

foobar2000 does not, and will not support playing files which are currently being written to. Dealing with file integrity changes which are affected by reading while the files are being written to is a pain in the ass. Better to avoid the problem altogether by preventing write sharing. (foobar2000 also prevents file sharing altogether when it opens files for writing.)
