Muxing subtitles in MKV

Hi!

I wonder if someone can explain me one thing. I want to mux some srt subtitles in one of my HD MKV files. I`m on mac so I want to do this with mkvtoolnix. Does this muxing involves encoding the video file too? If the mkvtoolnix encodes video, will that be lower quality file or not?

regads,
fabila

muxing in subtitles using mkvtoolnix will do just that: re-mux the file and add content.
It will not:
* burn the subtitles in the video stream
* transcode the video or audio

Therefore, quality will remain the same.
