Playing m3u playlists on a device

I'm using the Home Media Gallery and DLNA capabilities of my Pioneer VSX-1211-K receiver to play music from my pc. I created a big playlist with about 4000 songs and after some tinkering around finally got it to show on the device and open up properly. I created the playlist by exporting from itunes and then changing the path format to a relative path, ie "D:\Music" to "..\Music". So I decided to make 3 more playlists .. well the new ones wouldn't work, even though the original playlist remains working. I made Playlist1.m3u, Playlist2,m3u, etc. Playlist1.m3u was the only one that actually worked, and it would remain working when renaming it to something else. I inspected the playlists to make sure they are formatted the same, and they are formatted identically. I'm new to using playlists on a remote device, so maybe I'm missing something. I have a 250gb music library organized in sub-folders by genre, then artist, then album.. the receiver I have browses the folders nicely but I'd like to be able to have multiple playlists instead of picking albums. Thanks for any input
