I'm re-encoding some audiobooks to lower bitrate for my portable. Is there any app that keeps the tag? RazorLame drops it, i haven't tried others yet.

foobar2000 can preserve the tags. Another option would be copy and pasting the tags from the old files to the new ones. A nice tagger being capabile of doing so would be MP3Tag.
