good FLAC recorder ?

Hey folks,

I'm looking for a good FLAC recorder for recording passages of lossless songs and maintaining its quality in the recording.
I need that for practising my instrument  ...
I've already looked for such a foobar component in vein; what's the best software for achieving my aim in your opinion ?

Any properly functioning recording application will produce the same result, the program does not effect the quality, which instead depends upon the hardware used, the setup and recording technique, and the recording environment.

The recording program will receive the input as uncompressed PCM samples, normally saved as .wav on PCs. This can be easily and quickly encoded to FLAC for long term storage as a separate next step after the recording is finished.

There may be some programs that will hold the recorded input as a temp file, transparently encode to FLAC automatically, then delete the temp files at the end. If so, quality will be identical to the above. Never having wanted to do such a thing, I can't guess which application might. In general, recordings are manipulated -- edited, mixed, mastered -- after recording. FLAC would be inconvenient for that. It would have to be decoded before processing, then re-encoded again after. This might need to be done many times before the end product is achieved..
