foo_vis_vu_meter is the only VU meter for foobar2000 that I know of, though I'm not sure what you mean by analog. (Last time I checked the source code seemed pretty digital.
Screenshot (I guess I should add that one on the above linked page):

QUOTE (Sebastian Mares @ May 10 2005, 09:59 AM) Agreed. The one that comes with vuplayer are maybe one of the coolest bits of useless feature I've ever seen... (Usless in not in a negative sense, but it is after all mostly a piece of eyecandy, and it bumps the size of his install considerably...) -------------------- "ONLY THOSE WHO ATTEMPT THE IMPOSSIBLE WILL ACHIEVE THE ABSURD"

This maybe old info but try - http://sites.google.com/site/foobar2000com...ts/home/vumeter - you'll probably need translation. It works well and produces large accurate VUs. You alter settings in Preferences/ Advanced. Alan. |

This looks great onv. And there is an editor for it too ^^.
But i'm a bit unsure about: The component is written in Pascal, WITHOUT using the foobar2000 SDK. Couldn't that cause a problem towards compliance with foobar itself? |

I even tried deleting all but the one I wanted, without success. Thanks, D. |

Just put your *.bin with the file foo_vis_vumeter.dll. Choose from several options - right & left flip (left mouse button hold + right button click). Or File -> View -> Visualizations -> Analog VU Meter -> right mouse button on window This post has been edited by onv: May 15 2012, 06:34 |

Interesting.
Compared to the built-in VU meter, the analog VU meter pegs at -20dB. Is there a level adjust somewhere? (Just for grins, I disabled ReplayGain) Bob |

File - Preferences - Advanced - Display - VU Meter Or mouse wheel. Ah, yes. I tend to believe the warning at the top of the advanced page, but yes that works. Every answer spawns new questions. I have replay gain set to -11, so it I set VU meter to 11, then the meter should always top out at 0dB. However, I am inclined to use some EQ, and since the VU meter is the last thing in the chain (apparently), it will go red if I have sufficient boost. (Please no philosophy about boost/cut in EQ. I know!) So should I set the VU meter to 0 and then anything above 0dB would indicate clipping? Bob |

You can, for example, include in the VU-Meter peak LED and set it up exactly to the threshold for the 0dB

It'd be nice if VU Meter PreAmp would get values from Replay Gain from files being played.
What's more, I made myself a skin that can't be set properly, because it has two channels at ones. If I mark Left+Right it doubles like that. ![]() Also tried splitting this image in two and put two instances og VU Meter side by side showing different channels. One for Left and second for Right. Unfortunately, both of them displayed the same one. When I change the setting in one, second VU Meter albo changed. I wish they were independent. Any chances to have a solution for any of these issues/offers? |
