I've done searches on the forum and the internet, but I can't find a plugin or way to do this. Basically what I want to do is rename files and create a SFV (or MD5) and M3U at the same time, all within foobar. It's time to get a new tagger, and foobar is great for tagging and renaming files. The thing that isn't so quick or easy to do is create a verification and playlist while doing so. I move files from hard drive to hard drive, and I want to make sure none of them become corrupt in the move, so I check them before re-tagging them, or just to check them.

I think it would be great if foobar could create those files. And when you re-tag the album, check the sfv for errors, then re-create them according to how you've renamed the files. Does that make sense?

I was just thinking something like that.

Actually, it would be useful if fb2k would give the option of creating/updating a SHA1 or MD5 of the files when renaming, changing tags, or encoding a new file.

Obviously it would be great if it verifies them, optionally, before playing and or tagging/renaming.

I suppose you want a RAR plugin, with PAR2 generation too! Lets not forget NFO generation too!

Are you trying to be sarcastic?

No, because it seems pretty clear to me that all those features add up to foo_usenet or foo_bittorrent.

There are cases when even normal people need to verify the integrity of their music collection. E.g. in cases like this. Or when they play their music on a computer, where is an application which writes tags into music files without their awareness. However I admire mudlord's status as donating developer, refusing abovementioned functionality on the basis that some sort of people using sfv/md5/m3u is illegally sharing is weak. Audio CD burn support could be refused with the same logic, yet there's official foobar2000 component for that. Finally, as I have read here on forums few times, foobar2000 tries to be a player for everyone. For beginners the same as for experts. There was no mention about excluding people using playlists and integrity verification.

I can understand that there are probably more important goals than adding automatic playlist/CRC update support. And that such component will develop only someone who is interested. I just wanted to express support for functionality suggested by kwanbis:

Great idea!! +1. I'd love such feature! (And I can assure you that I've never used usenet, bittorrent or p2p in my life and that it will be used only for my sake and not sharing with anyone else.)

In reality, I'd like to be able to rename the directory, log file, m3u, sfv, ect so I don't have to do it manually. I use sfvs to verify that the backup is still complete, like if I backed up my music to a DVD-r, and that media became corrupted, I'd at least know which files are corrupt. And every time I'd change a tag, it could update the sfv automatically.

Ah yes, I want those features so I can upload files to usenet rolleyes.gif of course, that's exactly why I want them.

A hasher plugin is doable indeed.
I am wondering more on the renaming though. Isn't it possible already to do the renaming?

And what hashes would you want? SHA-256, Whirlpool, MD4? CRC32 would be useless as they can be spoofed.
