My LG drive identifies itself as HL-DT-ST, so I guess it's an LG.

I also have an LG drive which is recognized as HL-DT-ST.
I guess it's an OEM drive and that is why it doesn't identifies itself as LG. -------------------- http://listening-tests.hydrogenaudio.org/sebastian/

QUOTE (Sebastian Mares @ Oct 30 2004, 11:07 AM) Non. "HL DT ST" stands for Hitachi-LG DaTa STorage. It's a joint venture between Hitachi and LG working on digital optical storage http://www.hlds.co.jp/e_index.jsp -------------------- Get up-to-date binaries of Lame, AAC, Vorbis and much more at RareWares:

I assumed it had something to do with OEM drives as all retail drives I bought identify themselves as LG... while the drives which came bundled with PCs have the HL... string. My CD-RW drive is retail and it has HL-DT-ST in the ID string.
My DVD-rom drive (retail too) has LG in the id, but it's a patched firmware and I can't remember if it had another string before. -------------------- Get up-to-date binaries of Lame, AAC, Vorbis and much more at RareWares:
