^^^ so isn't quite funny that all those ppl who were happy with Vinyl are now seeking better than CD sound quality through their SACDs and the general discussion on >16/44 formats! On the contrary: it is perfectly coherent from vinyl worshippers to praise something that, to theirs eyes, pushes digital signals further towards the "infinite resolution" of analogic... LOL, but then if I understand it correctly, the whole term 'high-rez vinyl rip' is in fact a contractio in terminus. This post has been edited by absinthe33: Mar 23 2012, 19:46 |

'High-rez vinyl rip' is something that can't exist, it's in contradiction with itself. Still like to listen to some of them though. So let me get this straight. By your logic, a 4000x3000 photo of a 1280x800 LCD screen cannot exist either, because the LCD screen being photographed doesn't have enough pixels on it, right? -------------------- Infrasonic Quartet + Sennheiser HD650 + Microlab Solo 2 mk3.

By your logic, a 4000x3000 photo of a 1280x800 LCD screen cannot exist either, because the LCD screen being photographed doesn't have enough pixels on it, right? Apples and oranges... Following your logic, a 10kHz 8bit audio file can be made into high-rez also, if you would just play it on your stereo and record the output from your speakers with a mic and store it as 96kHz 24bit. You can tag a name to anything, you can call it 'super ultra high-rez' for all I care, the frequency's that weren't there to begin with, don't automagically appear by recording low resolution material at a higher resolution. |
