WAV->MP3 or FLAC->MP3?

I have some FLAC (and SHN) files that I would like to convert to MP3. Should I convert them to WAV first or should I just convert them directly to MP3 (using foobar)?

The process involves decoding the FLAC file to WAV first, that is what foobar does, but much more streamlined.

I've always found DBPoweramp handy here, i rip CDs to FLAC, then can jsut right click and convert to codec of my choice. Works great
