The licenses are incompatible, and Real isn't about to give up its bread and butter codecs just to make the world happy.  That's what you get for being locked in to a codec so proprietary that they threaten legal action against anyone who tries to figure anything out about it.

Also, as long as you don't care about video, just transcode the thing and be done with it.  It's not like it's going to lose much more quality.
