Removing APEv2 tags

I 've been letting Foobar write APEv2 & ID3v1 tags to my MP3 file so that I can have full metadata functionality but I've found that my new CD MP3 player does not display ID3v1 tags correctly if APEv2 tags are present.

Is there a way of removing just the APEv2 tags from copies of these files that I want to play on my CD MP3 Player - maybe by using Tagger or some other tool or is there some way to do this in Foobar itself?

I've been removing all tags and rewriting just IDv3 tags but it terribly time consuming! There must be a way of just removing the APEv2 tags...
