Assigning different font colours in tree depending on fields

Is it possible to assign different font colours in the media library tree view, depending on the file type or sample rate? It would be great, for example, for all FLAC files to be in black but for MP3s to be in blue, so you can see immediately what is what.

Thanks!

nope, that isn't possible.

Color functions

Starting in version 1.0, the Default UI playlist view doesn't support color functions. In that location, text color can only be adjusted via angle-bracket syntax: Use < and > characters to make specific text <dimmed> vs. the default color or >highlight>ed with the highlight color, with up to three levels in each case, e.g.: <dimmed>, >highlight<, >>more highlight<<, <<<very dim>>>.

The playlist in the Columns UI still supports the following functions:
[go to page for list]

To more experienced users: Do locations in DUI other than the playlist view support the angle-bracket syntax?* And do CUI’s version of the Album List, or any other UIs, support the same functions as CUI’s playlist?

* SimPlaylist does, for whatever that’s worth (see also the description of my recent edit to the title-formatting reference page).

I use Columns UI and the 'Filter' panel can be set up as a library viewer rendering string colors conditionally exactly how extracampine wants.

I was just reading db1989's quote...

I have spent many years customizing my foobar2000 interface and coloring stuff in an intricate custom way is one of the reasons I have stuck with fb2k so long (obviously using Columns UI).

But this quote disturbs me "Starting in version 1.0, the Default UI playlist view doesn't support color functions."

The developer(s) of foobar2000 are gradually REMOVING more color customization options from DUI compared to previous versions !!??
What the hell is the reason for that?

I don't see musicmusic (the developer of Columns UI) ever come to this forum anymore, and I'm thinking what will happen if the day comes that I am forced to use the Default User Interface of foobar2000 because Columns UI has been left behind.

If my reading of the above quote is correct, then that means I need to prepare myself to find another music player. As you may know, I already tried to convince the development 'team' of SimPlaylist (DUI playlist viewer) to add more options to it so users can have more choice and customize it any way they like, but I all I got was stubborn resistance.

What is the long-term roadmap for foobar2000 and it's default user interface?

Is the customization gap between CUI and DUI ever going to be bridged or not?

CUI going the way of Panels? That would be a sad day indeed!

I also think it's a shame that none of the active devs have any interest in supporting color customization. I don't understand the resistance...
