Hi
i hava a single file ape with cue sheet. I splitted it into tracks and converted to flac. I did it with 2 different converters and splitters. (1. way)I used mediavel cue splitter and audio transconder under windows. (2. way)Under linux I used cuetools, shntool, mac and flac packages with this tutorial http://aidanjm.wordpress.com/. If I compared the track from my first way to the track of my second way,I got 2 different results with mediainfo. e.g. the size of the track was bigger under windows, bit rate was little bit bigger under winows also;.. i dont understand why it is so, because it the lossless format and it can be lose information thank you This post has been edited by msio: Feb 18 2011, 14:55 |

With lossless compression quality is not a function of size. Only size is a function of size.

The last time I tried Medieval it did not cut at the correct positions.
For accurate splitting on Windows you can use Gregory S. Chudov's CUETools: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index....showtopic=66233 This post has been edited by Alex B: Feb 18 2011, 16:06 -------------------- http://listening-tests.freetzi.com

How much of the splitting part in CUETools was reworked by Chudov?
Moitah's original CUETools (pre-Chudov) will also accurately split images, as will foobar2000 and shntool. Too many problems have been reported with mediavel; I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
