OK. I've been reading these forums for a few weeks and I'm close to starting to burn !!!! But a few questions remain ....
My sources will include SHN, FLAC and CDs. All of which I will rip to WAV files. Next I will use WaveGain. Some of the WAV files I will burn to CD (mostly live recordings from the SHN/FLAC soruces), using Nero. I think I will be ok with this procedure. But I will also want to encode the WAV to MP3 for use on an iPod. I plan to use Lame to create the MP3s and then copy/import them into iTunes and ultimately to the iPod. Is there anything I need to be aware of here? I vaguely remember some issue with iTunes and tag information .... And one other question regarding file structure for storing the files. I've seen various implementations/suggestions. They all include the track number in the name. What will happen if I want to make a compilation CD? Will I be able to adjust the order of the music if the track number is part of the name of the track? I'm so confused .... thanks in advance ... |

Well, I include tracknumber in my filename, such as "Plumb\Candycoatedwaterdrops\08 - Plumb - Worlds Collide_ A Fairy Tale.mp3" However, my tag looks like this (in fb2k): "Plumb - [Candycoatedwaterdrops #08] Worlds Collide: A Fairy Tale" With tags, you can decide if, how, and where you display information. Filenames are just that - file names. You can order them however you would like when you compile a cd. |

looks like i'm missing the details of how tags work....
are they 'portable' between formats (i.e. going from wav to mp3, then into iTunes and ultimately the ipod?) |
