Sorry for this....but I had to post.  How can anybody in their right mind pay $7000 for a 6ft power cable.....

Is there any empirical evidence to show that such a cable would be sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better than stock?

wow!!!

Evidence to the contrary abounds.

The idea that a good piece of equipment is going to be affected by the tremendously subtle differences that a power cable could possibly make ha a big fight with Science.

The purpose of the power supply in a piece of equipment is to keep the performance of that piece of equipment from changing, even when the power line goes through major fluctuations. One day the line voltage is 122, the next it might be 115. A large appliance snaps on and there is a short term variation of several volts. The total voltage drop across a power cord is minuscule in comparison. How can it affect anything?

I wonder if anybody has bought even one?  They probably had 10 made up for reviewers at a cost of maybe $50 each, and threw them up against the wall to see if any stuck. If they sold even one, they may have made their money back.

Very sweet - $200k for a 10 meter power cable!  I actually like the site - they really just need to sell one or two cables to make the business worthwhile.

Come on, this must be trolling...

Coconut Audio is run by the guy whose subjectivity was too extreme for Head-Fi to handle (Patrick82). Between the pictures of his entire hi-fi setup painstakingly wrapped in ERS paper and his reports of multiple week burn-in times for his setup (instantly reversed if you turned it off) it was never quite clear to what degree he was trolling.

His proudest moment came when he posted about the new $50,000 (no typo) power cable he had purchased for his $100 DAC (with photos). It was promptly apparently chewed upon by his cat, which he duly posted photos of.
As the power cable he posted pictures of appeared to be real, my guess is that he was someone with links to one of the snake-oil vendors who decided to have some fun...I can't begrudge him that, especially considering some people apparently bought his products.

On AVSforum, where he also posted, everyone thought that guy was either a nut or a troll.  Apparently he's an entrepreneurial form of the latter;  probably took his cue from the 'machinadynamica' huckster

About 90% seem to think he's a troll, especially after the pictures of him semi-nude with a power cable...the terrifying part is the odd attempt to engage with him seriously. "Pray tell what did your solid platinum power cable do to the microdynamics?"

I guess that the worst problem is that if any equipment actually DOES work better with one of these fancy cables, one can reach only one conclusion, that being that the power supply needs help.

Indeed, they are. Interestingly, only 4 out of 30 reviews are older than June 1. I wonder why that is?

You're assuming that these cables actually were designed with a methodology that could do something materially useful.  Given what I've seen in the so-called "high-end" I would conservatively say that's questionable!

Ha ha , the title of his last thread at head-fi (before being banned)  is hilarious:

Probably just an attention seeker and is continuing to get what he wants.

It was likely in response to a TOS #8 violation that has since been binned.

That consequence is the result of mere logical thinking.

In the eyes of your typical high end audiophile true believer, any equipment that performs in an audibly degraded way due to anything but perfect power, has "Superior resolving power and detail".  Sad but IME, true.

An audio component that does a poor job of filtering out high frequency noise on the power lines, resulting in audio degradation, could certainly benefit from a power cord that provides additional filtering. The problem is that the ultra-expensive cords often seem to have nothing in particular that would address this issue.

Just slide a ferrite bead RF choke over a regular power cable and call it good. Even that might be overkill depending on the power supply circuitry.

It's amazing how much uber rich guys will blow on utter crap just to have bragging rights. I used to work at Tara Labs and it was unbelievable how many people would get in line to buy their expensive cables.

So there actually are a significant number of sales of 5-figure cables? 4-figure cables?

Regarding the 7000$ audioquest cable, not a single reviewer has the mention "Amazon Verified Purchase".

I looked at the Tara Labs website, and I found it dangerous that you have to contact them to get price of most expensive cables. And by the way, how does it feel to work for a company , that is an obvious scam ?
