How Do I Automatically Sort the Autoplaylist "All Music" by

Complete n00b here, I just got started with f2k. I use columns UI.

I would like to create a playlist containing my entire library which automatically updates when I add items to my collection. That playlist should always be sorted in reverse chronological order by the import date. How do I do it? Can't seem to figure it out.

What I figured is the following: I added the foo_playcount component, so that I have %added% available. I also managed to created the autoplaylist "All Music" by going to Library -> Album List, selecting "All Music," clicking the right mouse button to bring up the context menu and selecting "Create Autoplaylist." I can then sort the autoplaylist any way I want by selecting all its items and entering my desired sort pattern under Edit -> Sort By.

But that doesn't lead to automagical updating when I add items to the library. So I also tried to modify the Autoplaylist (Album List branch) properties by right-clicking on the "All Music" playlist and selecting "Autoplaylist (Album List branch) properties," and entering my filter pattern. As the filter pattern, I went with "SORT DESCENDING BY %ADDED%" but f2k just tells me "sort operations not available in this context." So, how do I do it right?

create an autoplaylist by going to main menu>Library>Search. enter ALL as the query

if you have playlist tabs/playlist switcher in your layout*, right click the playlist and from there you can put the sort pattern and tick a box so it's force sorted.

*if not, use view>playlist manager from the main menu

thanks!

this gets me closer to the solution but one problem remains. i want the tracks by import date in reverse chronological order, so that the track most recently added to the library appears on top of the playlist (and tracks that have been added earlier appear further down in the playlist).

what would be the sort pattern to do this? i just looked through the title formatting syntax reference and didn't see anything suitable...


EDIT: so I got it working with the query pattern "ALL SORT DESCENDING BY %added%". Still, it confuses me like crazy that using "ALL" as the query pattern and "SORT DESCENDING BY %ADDED%" as the sort pattern didn't do the trick...
