Importing from iTunes Options

I've been trying to switch over from iTunes to something else for the longest time..nothing does the job like foobar. However, I have over 6100 songs in my iTunes library, with dates added, last played etc. I want to keep all the date added and last played jargon. I REALLY want to switch to foobar.

How do I accomplish this?

I'm quite frankly surprised and baffled that foobar is without this feature.

One hard minute of googling says you could simply use iTunes export to..well, to export your files and playlists into universal format which can be read by any other media player.

Many hard minutes of googling have told me that it doesn't quite work that way. I appreciate the suggestion, but please don't treat me like I haven't been doing the obvious already:/

IMHO, for some reason developer allows only transferring statistics between different foobar instances and doesn't support the idea of importing from other player. He never replied to any such request.

Maybe you have noticed already, that if you try to export statistics, all items are crypted with ID element containing some kind of MD5/UUID or similar hash, making it impossible to reveal actual tracks. And that is the only XML format accepted for importing AFAIK.

Some days ago I posted XSLT which can reveal some IDs, but not usable for your case, as there is requirement tracks to be played at least once. Having the IDs mapped to track/artist/album, you can then perhaps make 10 line XSL to map between foobar playback statistics XML format and iTunes one.
Although you could preview play 1s of you whole library in less then 2h, that's just dumb approach IMHO.

I'd suggest you import through file tags, i.e. writing statistics to files which I think was discussed couple of times here already, but I don't have exact links, or use other component:
- sqlse playback statistics
- sqlite playback statistics

Writing data to sqlse I think is generally harder then in sqlite

I don't why is mp3tag suggested, as you can load that playlist with foobar and then either use built-in "properties > automatically fill values" with clipboard as source, or masstagger.

Hope, we didn't scare OP with these a bit involved "solutions"
