Need source for Creative Commons flac files, Searching for royalty free distributable music Options

Hello,

It has been awhile since I have been here (as in years, probably 5), I do not even remember my old username.
I'm not really an audiophile but I do enjoy truly open formats, such as flac for lossless and Ogg Vorbis for lossy. That's the FOSS *nix geek in me.

Anyway, to the point. I am coding a simple HTML5/jQuery jukebox.
The jukebox will be part of a CMS that I am going to be releasing.

I need music that I can legally use for demonstration of the jukebox, but I'm having trouble finding such offering in a lossless format. It seems all of the music I have found released under a Creative Commons type license is mp3.

The first problem is that due to software patents, many browsers do not support mp3 natively so I have to make music available in both mp3 and Ogg Vorbis.
Transcoding from mp3 to ogg isn't that big of a deal except it is lossy to lossy and I would rather go lossless to lossy.

However a bigger issue has cropped up. Some of the mp3 files I have found that are graciously released under Creative Commons are improperly encoded. They play in most mp3 players but they are technically incorrect file format.

This causes a problem because the way my CMS works, audio files are not directly served. A wrapper script looks at the mime type of the requested file, and then sends the appropriate headers and the content.

For properly encoded mp3 files that works fine but for mp3's in a bad technically incorrect container, that doesn't always work because the mime type is not properly detected from the file container.

If I had some Creative Commons music from lossless source, I could use lame to make the mp3 and oggenc to make the ogg and I would have quality encoding from lossless in both formats and proper technically correct containers that work properly with server side mime type detection.

The problem is, I'm having difficulty finding Creative Commons music that is released as lossless, so I was hoping that people here might know of some good sources.

I can use my own rips for testing at home but for live server demonstration I can't obviously due to copyright law, I need music that specifically allows me to use it that way.

On that matter, NIN goes into the hall of shame, for encouraging fan remixes to be submitted in mp3 192 only to be transcoded to 128. Blah.

Here's some music in FLAC format from the Smashing Pumpkins.
They decided to put this on line for free because their record label at that time did no longer support them.
I am not completely sure if it's copyright free so thats something you've got to check out for yourself.
