Hello,
Anybody know how to set the TPDF dither when I downsample from 24/96 to 16/44 in Foobar2000? I haven't used it in a long time and the settings I had on another computer were lost. Thanks |

I don't think the options for type of dither are available any more unless you obtain a suitably old version of fb2k (e.g. some versions from around the era of 0.5 to 0.7 by memory included dither PDF, noise shaping type and permitted padded bit depths e.g. 2-bit, 4-bit, 6-bit, 10-bit, 12-bit, 14-bit) which was a useful learning tool but not important for practical purposes. The default now available is perfectly fine for final rendering and conversion processes and isn't even a hidden option now (and it's not worth the hassle of explaining to noobs). If you want TPDF unshaped dither because you might want to do further processing in 16-bit limited software, I believe any modern audio editor such as Audacity will be just fine.

Almost 3 years ago I wrote this plugin for completely different purpose. And it is possible to use it to make flat TPDF dithered signal.
