Nero 1.5.1.0 was released a couple days ago. Page says the old version, but the release notes and the actual download itself say 1.5.1.0.

I am surprised there wasn't an announcement here. Well, the devs managed to get out the new version of Nero before the 25th. Good job. Now I am off to some blind ABX testing.

This bug still exists: Nero cannot properly encode some files with bit depth > 16.

This bug still exists: Nero cannot properly encode some files with bit depth > 16. Sorry we never replied to that, but the problem was found to only exist on sine sweeps and too complicated/risky to fix for this release. |

wow, I have been looking forward to this new version for quite awhile now, going to spend some time doing some ABX testing to see if I can make out any noticeable improvements, but in the meantime, thanks to the Nero devs for all the hard work!

Perhaps this has been an issue before this version, but I have tracks of silence that are being encoded at 20-40 kbps. This is in contrast to songs that have some sound at the beginning and then 3 kbps silence for the rest. Minor issue, considering very few artists have tracks of complete silence, but something to keep in mind nonetheless.
In any case, I'm currently ABX'ing away. |

Great news.
It will be even greater if public test will be performed. |

Hmmm... it doesn't work for me here unfortunately. I can issue the -help command but when I try to encode something it just crashes and Windows error reporting window pops up.
Are there some dependencies that weren't required with the previous version? BTW, my cpu is Intel Celeron (Tualatin) - Instructions: MMX, SSE This post has been edited by jeffster: Dec 24 2009, 11:17 |

Works fine here with foobar2000, Win7 Pro 32 bit, i5-750 Works with foobar2000, but not perfectly. I converted a 5 minute WAV file to m4a (96000Hz Stereo -q 1.0 ), played it with foobar2000, the file length is wrong ( 15:45 ). WMP, iTunes, Quicktime, MPC do not have the similar problem. |

You probably need to update foobar2000, because older versions had an issue with the timescale for the iTunes gapless data. |
