Playlist_bind REALLY slow? Options

Is it just me, or is playlist_bind taking forever to rescan your music folder? I have about 8500 songs in my folder, and it take's forever to scan the folder. I think the problem is that instead of just scanning for any new additions or anything that was deleted, it rescans every file. It takes a good 3 or 4 minutes to finish. It's not a big deal but kind of a pain when you only add a few songs to the playlist, but have to wait for the playlist to be updated.

That may be true but what you can do is use Foobar's file moving capabilities to add files to your music folder. That would automatically get added to your Albumlist and you wouldn't have to use playlist_bind at all.

Hmm could you give me some insight on understanding it? I looked at it for a while today and I didn't understand what its supposed to do at all

it rename files, create dirrectories, and move files to them... quite sexy for some thing but imho absolutly not for you. for playlist bind just binds playlists to directories and file opperations are for catalogizing and others stuf... but it depends on what you use playlist bind for. i for example like to have complete playlist of two of my dirrectories which can be actualized with just one click... dont know how can file operrations help me with that

Yeah, I kind of agree cartman. If you are using playlist bind as an alternative to media library which i gathered from your first post, then File Operations is a good idea.

For example: I sometimes rip Pandora streams to see if I really like the songs enough to buy a CD so I use playlist bind those songs in a playlist. But If I'm adding songs to my media library, I use file operations so that I dont have to rescan my entire library again.

Hmmm, sounds interesting enough. I did what you said, and something weird happened. When I used playlist bind, the playlist showed up with 9016 songs. When I used autoplaylist (query = 1), the playlist had 9020 songs? o_O

Well you must have 4 songs in the ML that isn't from your music folder check the preference to see if the ML is queuing a extra map

Nope, the only folder set under my ML is my music folder, and playlist bind is binding the same music folder. o_O
