Hi,
I recently bought a tangent quattro wi-fi radio, I've found that I'm getting clicks and buzzes when I connect via wifi either to local media or to internet radio stations. Shame really as otherwise it sounds good. The noises are very quiet, I can only hear them if I'm right by the speaker (< 1m), the volume of the clicks doesn't change if I change the volume dial so it is easiest to hear them by turning the volume right down and putting my ear to the speaker. If I connect wired (ethernet) the noise seems to go away. I want to use the radio as a bedside radio so the noise is a problem. Is this noise standard for these radios? Or have I got a faulty one? Any feedback or 2nd oppinions much appriciated! Gaff |

Seeing that the noise goes away when you connect it with the ethernet cable, it might be due to the wifi radio (transmitter/receiver) integrated into the unit. Similar noises might be found on some laptops, due to their wifi radios. I don't know any way to fix it but it might help you in resolving the problem.

Trouble-shooting the issue via process of elimination might be worth a shot: go to the breaker in your home and discern which one feeds the plug in the bedroom where your radio is plugged in, and the transmitter (wireless router I suspect?). Turn off all breakers except those two.
Now go back and listen for the clicks and buzzes... If they are still there, unplug any other items on the two remaining active power lines such as cordless phones and perhaps (long-shot) even your cell-phone / charger base-station. Ticks still there? If so, sorry dude, that was my two cents worth. However, if they are in fact now eliminated, start popping on breakers until you hear the annoying clicks and buzzes again – you’ll be able to narrow it down from there. PS: Cool looking little unit: ![]() http://www.ccrane.com/radios/wifi-radios/t...rnet-radio.aspx Andrew D. www.cdnav.com This post has been edited by digital: Jan 9 2008, 04:28 |
