What type of memory you are referencing. What program is telling you this information? Ram used is based on Foobar2000 and the some total of the components you use.

Hard to assist as you provide zero information about your configuration or OS.

My memory usage as defined by XP task manager is 13k current and 40k max.

Please follow the (prominently advertised) rules of this subforum in providing more information such as the data mentioned by tpijag as well as your list of installed components, the configuration you have created therewith, what you are doing with said configuration when measuring such usage of RAM, which versions of foobar2000 and Windows you’re using, and so on.

And, to remove current ambiguity, does that “600.000 k” mean six hundred or six hundred thousand kilobytes?

Thank you, tpijag.

This type: 4096MB (2 x 2048 DDR3-SDRAM )

E.g. the Task Manager does.

Sorry, I do not quite understand.

Thanks db1989.

I am very sorry about the poor information.

...the configuration you have created therewith...

Sorry, I cannot understand which configurations could be created.

The newest none beta portable foobar version, 1.1.11.

During the 600000 k usage foobar played internet radio and may be did some things like scanning the library, but what I wanted it to do at that time, was to play radio.

I would say 600000 (six hundred thousand) like the Task Manager says.

My task manager, under Win7 x64, shows for foobar.exe (ver 1.1.12 beta6) the value of 35000-36500K with FLAC, 38500-39000 with SACD.

At the moment...no, a few seconds ago, my TM shows about the same value as yours, now it shows abut 250.000 for foobar. I haven' t changed anything by intention, foobar just plays radio.

That's low. Mine (XP 32bit, 20 foobar2000 components, nothing exotic) is 606,624KB according to XP Task Manager, but I suspect that much of that is due to the library containing 110,000 tracks.

I've just checked - my portable foobar2000 installation with around 10 components and 212 tracks in the library is just 17,684kB.

It would be really nice if it would use something like his other program, Boom Audio Player. http://perkele.cc/software/boom
Uses about 2-3 MB with around 14 000 tracks. Though it doesn't use tags when displaying them except during playing, but it's really instant and small.

Hope something can be made to current Media Library.

My regular foobar2000 uses about 200 MB RAM and VM.

Tried a bare minimum install with 14 000 MP3s in ML and it uses around 50 MB.

Edit:
I noticed one thing however, if I index My Documents-folder that contains about 30 MP3s but 16 000 other kind of files, all those filenames are inside database.dat as well.
Restrict to: *.mp3;*.xm;*.mod;*.it;*.m4a;*.aac
Exclude: *.txt;*.zip;*.rar;*.cue.mp3;*.ogg;*.sid;*.exe;*.pdf
But it still doesn't honour that.

Might be a bug?

Thanks.

I noticed that fb2k library contain files with hidden attribute as well.
("Rescan on startup" = off; these files disappear from the library after "Rescan now" command, but appear again after fb2k restart).

Fixed incorrect handling of hidden files with certain Media Library configurations (1.1.12 final).

Would be nice if it also excluded all file types that's not in Restrict to.
