When ripping audio CDs I am using Nero Burning Rom and its Extras - Save tracks utility. The aim is always to save individual *.wav files with silence not removed. This works 100% for me. I always get perfect tracks from the audio CDs in WAVE format.
Now I want to create a CUE sheet file, so that I can burn an audio CD from those tracks and I want to have a layout where the audio CD would always start with a 2 seconds pause but the other tracks would have no pauses (because we saved them as "do not remove silence"). Basically this works in Nero for me when I start an audio CD compilation and load the ripped files and only set the pause for the very first track. I always get the same "playing order" as on the original CD (regarding gaps / gapless playback). So instead of creating this compilation I want just a single CUE sheet file. Is this even possible regarding Nero / audio CD burning from individual *.wav files? This is the layout I get from Nero when saving tracks: N - Start - Length - Mode etc... 1 - 0:02.00 - 0:04.09.960 (43 MB) - Audio 2 - 4:11.72 - 0:02.36.400 (27 MB) - Audio 3 - 6:48.27 - 0:04.21.533 (44 MB) - Audio etc... The saved tracks are as usual: Track No01.wav (42 MB) - note that the length of the *.wav file reported by Goldwave is the same as what Nero reports - 4:09.960 Track No02.wav (26.3 MB) Track No03.wav (43.9 MB) etc... Before I started this topic I was trying to use EAC but it creating some nonsence for me. So uninstalled (not the first time BTW). And I came here and found the CUE Tools / CUE Ripper - but they report something different than Nero. For instance the first track - have a look: # - Title - Start - Length 1 - blah - 00:00:00 - 4:09:72 2 - blah - 04:09:72 - 2:36:30 etc... So why is there a start at 00:00:00 when Nero has 0:02.00 for instance? - Because there should be a 2 seconds pause on the start of an audio CD shouldn't it... At least I always want it there... I tried to merge the files in Goldwave and generate a CUE sheet for the single output file. And the result is misleading for me because the second track has an index of 04:09:72, but the length of the first tracks is 4:09.960! Confused! Have a look: TRACK 01 AUDIO TITLE "Track No01" INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO TITLE "Track No02" INDEX 01 04:09:72 TRACK 03 AUDIO TITLE "Track No03" INDEX 01 06:46:27 etc... OK. This is just to make things more complicated. But my goal is simple, as already said: How to create a CUE sheet file to burn an audio CD in Nero based on individual *.wav tracks (with silence not removed) where there would be no pauses added apart from the very first 2 seconds at the beginning of the audio CD? Thanks. This post has been edited by maiki: Mar 1 2012, 03:07 |

I don't use Nero for burning, so I can't fully answer, but I just wanted to point out that 4:09:72 and 4:09.960 are the same thing. One is in minutes:seconds:frames format, and the other is in minutes:seconds.milliseconds format.

Right I think I have found a solution. After I grab the tracks in Nero, I merge them using Goldwave and it gererates cue file. Than the only thing to do is to edit that cue file so that each individual track goes with the proper index like this:
FILE "Track No01.wav" WAVE TRACK 01 AUDIO TITLE "Track No01" INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Track No02.wav" WAVE TRACK 02 AUDIO TITLE "Track No02" INDEX 01 04:09:72 FILE "Track No03.wav" WAVE TRACK 03 AUDIO TITLE "Track No03" INDEX 01 06:46:27 etc... And it works. I have opened such a cue sheet in Nero, burned an image, mounted the image, grabbed the tracks again - and they are identical to original tracks form original CD. Yes, I think it works now. This post has been edited by maiki: Mar 1 2012, 19:14 |

Your last example seems weird. Each track/index/title combo applies to the most recently mentioned file. So you're saying that you want the audio for track 02 index 01 to be taken starting from 04:09:72 of the way into Track No02.wav, and you want the audio for track 03 index 01 to be taken starting from 06:46:27 of the way into Track No03.wav. This would make sense if it was an "image" rip with just one big .wav for the whole CD, but you have each track in its own file, so every track should have an index 00 or 01 that starts at 00:00:00 (the beginning of the file).

Thanks. I have changed it like this:
FILE "Track No01.wav" WAVE TRACK 01 AUDIO TITLE "Track No01" INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Track No02.wav" WAVE TRACK 02 AUDIO TITLE "Track No02" INDEX 01 00:00:00 FILE "Track No03.wav" WAVE TRACK 03 AUDIO TITLE "Track No03" INDEX 01 00:00:00 etc... For some reason, Nero burned both the same. Maybe it can handle some nonsence correctly. Working good. |
