EAC, pregap and correct CUE sheet Options

Hello

I know how to rip CDs with pregaps in EAC ("Detect gaps", "Action->Append gaps to next track", "Action->Copy Selected Tracks Index-Based"), but how do I make an optimal CUE sheet for this rip?

For example: Calexico's Feast of Wire has an untitled hidden track in the pregap of the first song (which is "Sunken Waltz"), and the files on the PC look like this (I say .wav instead of .flac because the files will be converted before writing a copy, although they are actually .flac on the hard drive):

01.00 - Sunken Waltz.wav (This should really be Untitled.wav)
01.01 - Sunken Waltz.wav
02.01 - Quattro (World Drifts In).wav
03.01 - Stucco.wav
etc.

The CUE sheet ("Multiple WAV files with gaps... (Noncompliant)") doesn't seem to get this information right:

I have tried to solve this problem by editing the file names (01.00 - Sunken Waltz.wav -> 01.00 - Untitled.wav) and editing the CUE sheet i correlation, but it doesn't work. There also seems to be a problem with track 17:

Also, how can I get a CRC if I cannot "Test & copy"? The LOG file says the following:

It looks like you're using the wrong type of cue sheet for your rip. Since EAC doesn't have the option to create sheets based on separate files for each index, unless you tell it to split a single-file image, I recommend you rip the tracks with gaps appended to the previous track (gaps don't need to be detected to do this) and then modify your noncompliant sheet:

This will allow you to generate test and copy CRCs for all the data except the hidden pregap, though you can rip it as a range (F7) instead.

Also, you're going to need to strip the following from the end of your sheet or you'll get an error:

Hi, thanks for answering. I followed your tips and this is what I did, starting back from scratch:

1. I put in the CD, detected gaps
2. Selected the first track
3. Action->Copy Selected Tracks Index-Based
4. Kept 01.00 - Untitled.flac and deleted 01 - Sunken Waltz.flac
5. Test & copy selected tracks on the entire album (+ made noncompliant CUE)
6. Tried to edit CUE sheet in accordance to your information

When I try to load the CUE sheet in the CD Layout Editor for writing, I get an error message, saying "File does not exist in line 7" (ie FILE "Calexico\2003 - Feast of Wire\01.00 - Untitled.wav" WAVE)

The filename is 01.00 - Untitled.wav (when decoded). What have I done wrong?

I assume you're keeping your CUE in the same directory as your tracks. If so, you're going to need to remove every instance of "Calexico\2003 - Feast of Wire\".

Also, you haven't modified your CUE correctly to include the hidden track.

It needs to be:

You can't have two instances of TRACK, TITLE or PERFORMER for track 1. IOW, the text information entered for TRACK 01, INDEX 00 must also belong to TRACK 01, INDEX 01.

Glad to hear it.

Are you ok with the CRC thing? I can't remember whether CRCs are displayed in a log file when ripping as individual indices. I know for sure that you'll get a CRC when using F7 (hence my suggestion). If you want to generate two CRCs for comparison, simply rip twice and compare the results in the log file. There is no way to get 00 index CRCs to display in the GUI.
