Read first: Does your thread belong in G/A? Choose the right subforum., Do not post here about subjects for which entire subfora are provided.

Please make sure to choose the right forum section when you start a new thread. It reduces clutter in this popular "General Audio" section, and most importantly, it makes threads much easier to find later on.

We've had a lot of off topic posts in General Audio lately, mostly related to audio hardware, so we'd like to stress that these topics have their very own sections on HydrogenAudio. To quote the descriptions:

Audio Hardware
"Discussion of Audio Hardware, Soundcards, Hi-Fi equipment, stand-alone CD players, portable MP3 players, headphones etc."

CD Hardware/Software
"Discussion of CD-ROM/-R/-RW/DVD-hardware, copying, ripping and burning of CD media, EAC, CDex, Plextools etc."

Thanks.

The influx is usually present, but over the past couple of days, it’s been especially concentrated. Perhaps people need to be reminded that other subforums exist. They are here to be used; General Audio is not here to be a dumping ground for people who have not properly familiarised themselves with the site or are simply being lazy.

• Is your thread about hardware? Questions about speakers, a soundcard, a portable player, and so on? Don’t post it here. Post it in Audio Hardware.
• Is your thread about CDs? Ripping them, cleaning them, burning them, and so on? Don’t post it here. Post it in CD Hardware/Software.
• Is your thread about MP3? Guess where it goes? Not here.
• Is your thread about foobar2000? You might notice a link on the left to an entire sub-board about said program.

I could go on. Or: you could browse the easily accessed list of subforums, read their subtitles, and act accordingly. A pattern of simple logic should be evident in the above hypothetical examples.

General Audio is for subjects that don’t already have their own dedicated subforum(s) and/or for threads that span so many different subjects to such similar degrees that choosing from the available subfora is effectively impossible.

Please just take the few seconds necessary to choose the proper location for your thread rather than just dumping it here as a catch-all.
