What's your problem? ... I don't think this is the correct topic to discuss that, but I take your advice and update PA and ALSA. The issue is foobar gives unpredictable results: at one time it plays fine, at others it just plays at 1/10 speed, which is awful. Could not track down the reason, so updating PA, ALSA, WINE is my best bet (using Karmic too). |

Another round of thanks to Peter! There are a couple points where I wish foobar2000 were different (notably playing nicely with nonstandard tags used by iTunes or WMP, just for the sake of compatibility of foobar-encoded or -edited files with other libraries or dominant programs) but I understand the reasons for doing things the way that Peter does, and foobar2000 is far and away better than anything else I've seen - I use it all the time. Thanks so much. If you were in Chapel Hill, I'd buy you some beers.

I love this software so much! I have used it since 2002. Thank you, very, very, much! -------------------- I'm the one in the picture, sitting on a giant cabbage in Mexico, circa 1978.

Great program though 1.0 looks the same as 0.9.6.9 as far as I've seen.

Second. Ape files no longer play. Is there a new plugin/dll file I need to download? APE files never played out of the box, you need the Monkey's Audio decoder plugin: http://www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_input_monkey And thanks so much Peter! I've been using foobar2000 from the start (back in the days of :B) and it's become amazingly powerful and customizable without getting all bloated! I love foobar!!! |

Thanks Peter!
I'm glad you stood up in the winamp days and started your own project. See what it has become now! It changed my complete usage of programs on windows. I stopped skinning everything and started using lean and mean software only. |

The converter component does not accept relative paths to the command-line encoder folders anymore - it was working before I switched to 1.0. Kind of negates the intention of the portable mode. Is it a bug or a feature?

Just wanted to say congratulations on reaching v1.0, Peter and the rest of the devs. I switched from Winamp back in the day (my last Winamp version used was v2.91) to Foobar2000 and I have never looked back.

i'm back using DUI again and i see the playlist in v1 now supports a gradient rectangle for selected items when using aero. but are there plans for other UI elements to use the same scheme? i'd actually rather the playlist didn't have aero until it's supported across all elements then at least it would look consistent. it looks a bit untidy as it is.
(and yes i realise i'm being petty - i know it's not the most important thing in the world. |
