Burning cda from mp3 with correct tracklisting?

Hi.
I tend to use mp3's just as a compressed method of transporting music via internet.
I then always reexpand them on cd's to cda files so I can play them in my car stereo.
Recently I've been getting to grips with EAC - lovely program !
So I extracted a "mix" cd as one large mp3 file to avoid gaps between tracks.

This worked great.

However after burning as cda, I'm left with one large single cda track e.g. can't navigate to different tracks.

Is there some way I can use the cue sheet I generated with EAC when burning to allow my car player to recognise the different tracks ?

I seem to remember reading that mp3 files are incompatible with cue sheets - is this just for burning mp3 disks or does it apply to mp3 ---> cda burning as well.

I use Nero 6.

Thanks, swayzak

Make sure you change all the "WAVE" to "MP3" in the cue sheet you got from EAC when you first ripped the CD.

FILE "C:\My Documents\My Music\WAV & MAC\Delerium - Karma (Disc 2).wav" WAVE

thankyou very much

Here's the cue sheet for the dj mix cd I have extracted as a single wav file:

I can only see one "WAVE" here...is that the only thing I need to change ?

Do I just burn it with Nero 6, making sure the cue sheet is in the same folder as the single large mp3 file ?

I'm sure that's what I did last time but the car player only sees 1 large track....

Yes just change that WAVE to MP3 since you already have the file extension set to the correct .mp3.  In Nero don't go to the New Audio Disc function...just click File -> Open and select the Cue sheet.  There will be a pause as it grabs the file(s) and arranges them then you are ready to burn with the correct track markings.

thanks again !

I have encountered another problem now...

I tried editing the cue file for FSOL's Cascade EP (when I replaced "WAVE" by mp3 Nero gave an error at every line involved - so I changed them back to WAVE. Then Nero opened the file for burning).

Looks like bad media.  Nero isn't even recognizing the discs.  I have some cheap CD-Rs that sometimes die 1/3 through a burn but even they get farther than that.  Unless someone has a better idea of why you have that problem...

I usually don't try to pimp my stuff too much, but seing the growing despair in this thread, I'll just recommend that you try Burrrn. It should burn your cue right away, without the need to edit anything.

Edit: I just noticed that DMA is off for your drive, you better check that.

Thanks - I just noticed that as well.

Tried to enable this in Device Manager but "PIO" remains as current selection (greyed out).

This is on a REALLY old BX motherboard (Chaintech 6-btm, 1999) - the cd/dvd drive is fairly new.

Is this a restriction of the mboard or can I enable this ?

If the mobo supports it, you can uninstall the IDE channel and reboot.

Also, burrrn is definitely the way to go.

That worked !

Now presumably this PIO was active before - but I've burnt many cd's successfully in that time.

I guess with DMA enabled now, it should use less cpu power ?

Actually I'm still puzzled.

Burning a cd from NeroExpress works fine (with the previously rejected cd's).

What I actually get when trying to burn from cue sheet is a Nero error window stating that the required medium is CD-R/RW...and the current media in drive is CD-R !!!??

The cue file is in the same folder as the mp3 tracks.

What's going on here.....

Burrn seems to cope with this alot better than Nero....just burning the first test now
