Which r your favourite sounds?

I was thinking yesterday of which sounds I just love hearing (sounds, not songs!)
Here r some:

- The sound of a tuned V8 engine at full throttle
- The sound of a McLaren F1 (the road car) accelerating (thanks to its awesome 6.1 lt V12 BMW engine)
- The humming sound of a Harley Davidson at low rpm
- The sound of race cars accelerating from a rolling start
- The sound of empty shot gun shells or automatic pistol slugs bouncing off the ground
- The sound of the Magnum revolver in Half-life, and the sound of the Magnum automatic pistol
in Half-life: Opposing Force, when fired
- The sound of a long sword being unsheathed
- The sound of the word "unsheathe"
- The sound of an automatic pistol being reloaded and the safety removed
- The sound of footsteps on a grainy surface
- The sound high-heeled shoes make on a hard surface
- The sound of a jet engine firing up
- The spooky sound u hear when u select your player in the original Resident Evil
- The roaring of a lion
- The sound of an explosion with glass fragments falling everywhere
- The sound a big metal pole makes if u hit it (ding!)
- The sound of keys clinging in absolute silence
- Anything said by Cartman

Well, this I what I've come up with till now, I'll think of some more...
In the mean time, tell me your favourite sounds.

BTW, does anyone know any good site with high quality sounds?
Most sites have very poor 8bit mono wav sounds which r basically crap...

- my Zippo opening and closing sound
- Homer saying "D'Oh!" or "mmmhh, donuts"
- in Monty Python and the holy grail when the Knights of Ni proclame that they want a shruberry, then there is this violin-terror-sound
- and my absolute favorite: the klicking of my French Laguiole knife when the blade is locked
I love the moderators.

Okay here are mine :

-The sound of water dripping in a cave
-The sound of the wind howling in the subway
-The sound of absolute silence in a huge building so that you can hear your own breath echoing
-The sound of breaking glass
-The sound of a watch ticking in a silent room
-The sound of a fast car or motorcylce passing by "vrrrooooooommmm"
-The sound of distant cars and the wind (outside the city)
-The shutter sound of my camera
-A high pitched tone that gets higher and higher until it becomes inaudible
-The sound of an old TV coming to life and going out

(...mhm just a few...)
0% Audiophile - and quite happy about it.

Yeah, I wanna buy a Zippo lighter simply for the sound of it... So cool!
And I don't even smoke.

BTW, the Le Mans 24 hour race is in progress and Eurosport occasionally
shows in-car footage from some of the race-cars. Yesterday they showed
footage from inside a Chevrolet Corvette C5... We're talking 6.9 lt American
V8 with 650+ hp. The sound was out of this world... I couldn't get enough
of it!

Thunder. Especially the noise of the leading electric discharge that comes before the actual bang.
kkrikrir-krazztzozz-BANG- ..................-booooooooooo-o--o--o-o-o-o-oo-o-mmmm

Fireworks, when you can hear the 20 Hz pressure caused by the start of the rocket echoing around the buildings that surround a port.
WOOF- wo-wowo-wowowow.............BOOM-boomboom--bo-bo-bo-bommmmm
Especially when you're in a ship in the middle of the port : the echoes come from all directions

The echo of my tongue banging (I'm famous for my tongue banging  ) on a forest at the other side of a lake : it makes the sound of two jets appearing in the middle of the forset border and flying in opposite directions
KLAK...............................................whaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmm

The sound of a cascade : a kind of pink noise (=white noise with a lot of bass)

The sound of a heavy door banging into a big stair-well and causing a 30 Hz resonance.
BUNK-MMMMMMMMMMMM

The "mbssssst" when you build a power line in SimCity 2000 is just classic.

Sounds I like:
The sound of my lover breathing.

Sounds I hate:
The bloody high pitched noise the TV makes when it's turned on, It's really annoying.

Ah a sound all too familiar.

There used to be a commercial on the radio that was advertising rolling rock beer. I dont drink rolling rock but they had a really nifty sound of the beer pooring into a glass that made me thirsty on the spot. I love that sound.

I liked the total war sounds from the game Total Annihilation.

I used to have a us robotics modem back in my 56k days that made a cool sonar ping noise. I giggled every time i heard it.

Beer of course!

My dog's claws against the floor of my house when he walks: cheek-cheek-cheek! (Kinda...I'm no Pio)
I'm the one in the picture, sitting on a giant cabbage in Mexico, circa 1978.

Amen to that one.

- The sound of our cat purring. Watching (and hearing) a sleeping cat is the most relaxing thing in the world.

- The sound of throwing beer cans (and other things) down the garbage shaft from the 13th floor (where I live). Not really a pleasant sound, but for some reason, I find it funny as hell.

The sound of New York City from the top of the Empire Building.  especially when you hear in direction of central park.

I noticed that the sound is poorer during recession... (less construction, less activity, ...)

Next time I should make a binaural recording of it B)

For some reason, that ogg file didn't work for me.
Does it, by any chance, sound like this?

open.wav

which comes from the Heineken web page,  and is best listened to
after this one . . .

Filling.wav

LOL, I played this just yesterday on my mom's old Win95 machine. "SimCopter One reporting heavy traffic." Yes, that power line sound is great.

My favorite sound though, is when the Predator growls and spreads his arms in the first movie, as he's closing in on poor Arnold. Fearsome!
