With 0.8 beta 3 I get an extra Volume control in the Active DSPs every time I restart.

and Crossfader [span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'](and Gapkiller (Advanced)) [/span] now cause LONG lag in Volume change - approximately the same length as the crossfade time.

Edit: Ah, hotfix. Thanks.

Edit 2: Hm, when I ran the .exe it gave me some error about missing utf8api.

You have to copy this file to fb2k's installation folder.

Good show on the auto-reloading of changed metadata on playback.. i have an ipod which i use itunes for, and i also use traktor, which puts data into id3v2 tags, so this has saved a lot of headaches for me with foobar always resetting tags to its database

one thing, though.. there seems to be a bit of a regression of behavior when using the masstagger in conjunction with id3v1+v2 tags (i can't use just apev2 on account of traktor.. doing so would strip all files of analysis, bpm, cuepoints, etc.. plus, it's nice to have full tags on the ipod, too).  a few versions ago (i believe somewhere after 0.7.2), _something_ changed somewhere that made it so the UI no longer locked when using the masstagger or the multi-file infobox to update tags on files using id3v2.. could still select songs, UI-integrated viz kept going, etc etc, basically, foobar remained responsive during this update. This behavior also was the case with the muti-file infobox.. foobar was responsive during the update. if i used 'rewrite file tags from database', foobar would still turn into a brick until this operation had completed.

Now, however, in the v0.8 betas, this behavior has returned... both the multi-file infobox and the masstagger do cause the UI to lock on file updates. responsiveness seems to return between individual file edits, but changing an id3v2 tag with its current implementation in foobar is not a quick operation  i'm a bit anal with respect to how i like to have my files tagged, so this situation is a pretty common one for me.

anyway, i was very, very happy to see this behavior disappear in 0.7, and i'd love to see it reappear in 0.8.. cheers, thanks for the good work

edit: forgot to include info re. my setup.. i'm using winxp sp1, and i installed the special installer of fb2k 0.8b3 into a fresh directory (i.e. nothing but what's in that special installer package). also, did some investigations and replaced the foo_id3v2.dll included with the special installer with the version from my previous foobar installation with no change of results.

What was your solution? I think I've got the same problem. Foobar wants to rewrite the database info from tags, even though the database info is more current.

Test report (Beta 3 - Special)W98 - MP3 only - Plugins : Foo_web, Foo_Infobox, Foo_dbsearch 0.11, Foo_utils 0.3

Small Bug found :
When Drag/Dropping albums from the album list to a playlist tab, songs are copied twice in the playlist window. It only happens with "Various artists" albums

Improvement :
foo_infobox plugin : Multiple items (standard) now seems to work (did'nt work in Beta 2)

Confirmation:
Volume control appeared twice in the DSP setting (even after removing it and reloading). Now seems to work with the Hotfix

Regression :
The playlist tabbed view cannot be disabled since 0.8 (Checkbox has dissapeared from the default UI settings)

Menu :
Adding a new group at the root does not work (maybe by design)

Thanks for this nice works anyway. The new Album list and menus are great !

new "Volume Control" item appears every time foobar2000 0.8b3 starts. if there were 2 items, after restart there will be 3, etc. my system is win2k sp4.

I have the same problem with the ID3 tags. I'm using 0.7.7b though. Using suggestion from someone else in the forums, I added foo_mpg123.dll for mp3 decoding and am using a modified version of std input without mp3 support. This fixes the issues for English (ASCII) tagged mp3s however, foo_mpg123 doesn't support unicode it seems so i get ???? for all the unicode ones. With the default components, I get a mess

Tags shown by foobar
Updated tags by copying from the location/filename
Hit reload after saving tag changes
Re-edited with windows to fix

There's more jargon in the first link because i think "beginning" was also stored in unicode. The masstagger in foobar was used for this (however, I do not recall if the OS was set to English or Japanese)

I don't think its a problem with the id3v2 support though, since using foo_mpg123.dll and the modified std input, under the corresponding regional modes the tags come out correctly. Meaning, unicode tags of Japanese comes out fine when my Windows is set to Japanese (This does not work with the regular std input even when Windows is set to Japanese), and Chinese tags work in Chinese mode, etc.  However lack of unicode support in mpg123 i believe makes it not work in English mode. So I think the issue might be in the std input itself and not in the id3v2 implementation

I played around with the id3 weirdness and found that only my joint stereo mp3s go kanji-ish, the full stereo files i tried seem to be ok so far... Maybe foo_id3v2 doesn't like joint stereo anymore?
