Can I reuse my Library info from WM in EAC?, Trying to 'recover' from a mistake

I have been ripping CDs mindlessly using Windows Media Player. I have mostly classical CDs, and I find the info available online often not to my liking (the way they name the tracks etc is simply not consistent).

Anyway, so I have about 200 CDs ripped already, but now that I know about EAC, I wouldn't mind reripping all of them (yes, major pain, but I can't live knowing that I did not choose the optimal method).

My problem is retyping all the tracks... when they are often in German or Italian. Can I somehow export the Library info from Windows Media Player to a format EAC can read as CD Database information?

Please help me out. Thank you in advance.

I can't give you a straight answer for your question, but I can tell you that there are tagging applications (Tag&Rename is one) that will export your tags in a standard (CSV, etc) format.

I can also tell you that EAC is capable of reading and writing CDPLAYER.ini. That might be your best bet. Export your EAC database to CDPLAYER.ini and then tell EAC to get CD information from CDPLAYER.ini. Yeah, that's the ticket. :-)

Thanks Rick. That was actually a good start.
I was able to create a CSV using Tag&Rename of all the Library info in WMP. But now I am stuck again. How do I make EAC use the CSV? Sorry for all the trivial questions...

I also have a large classical archive and find freedb entries full of typos and quite sloppy. Gracenote CDDB2 database is much better in that sense. What I do is, I use the software called Player which accesses CDDB2 database and retrieves the disc info and then export it into cdplayer.ini file from which EAC can read. After minor modifications it's as good as it gets. Then I submit it to freedb for other people to benefit.

No.
freedb and CDDB2 use different protocols.

I'd move on to the second option, and use the EAC database menu to write out your database to cdplayer.ini, and then when you're ready to re-rip, tell EAC to use cdplayer.ini as it's source for info instead of freedb.

no. and next time, please create a new thread instead of reviving a dead one.

foobar2000 can use freedb. it can't do CDDB because that it a proprietary technology which i believe needs a license to use.
