I've mentioned this in my other post, but that's getting a bit diverse so I thought I'd put it here.

I use Psytel 2.15 to make an .aac, then use mp4creator60 to convert it to a .mp4. I've got faac.flt (80,384 bytes) which I downloaded as a part of faacplug.zip.

If I go to open a file, then even click on a .mp4 file, Cool Edit locks up. I've turned off autoplay incase it was that, but it just locks up, and Win2k kicks in and tells me to end the task after a few seconds. I also noticed in the file info box it sais the mp4 is a 128000bps file and gives it the wrong playing time.

Does anyone else know of this problem? Or how to fix it?

Thanks for any replies!

I just remembered I also have a cooledit plugin I bodged together with MSVC6. It loads AAC files (although the progress display is messed up!) and if I click on a .mp4 file, it doesn't crash! It doesn't give any info on the file however, and if I load it I just get a 0 second file.

If it's any help, you can get my compile at www.mwstore.co.uk/crap/faac.flt

faac.flt isn't supposed to be able to load MP4 files.

Besides, the decoding engine is based on faad1.5, which is quite worse (and more buggy) than faad2.

Hopefully, Menno will find the time to rewrite the filter using faad2.

Regards;

Roberto.

Hmm, in the open dialogue it sais "MPEG4-AAC Format (*.aac,*.mp4)"

Aah cool, if he could rewrite it, would he be able to make it open mp4 files too? (is it a possibility i mean?)

The reason I need mp4 opening is that the in_aac plugin for winamp is really slow on my computer, so it's a big inconvenience having to use .aac files! (another bug that could be fixed?)

Thanks ohmy.gif)

About the Winamp plugin problem... (in_faad not in_aac, my mistake) :

QUOTE
That's a design flaw in in_faad. It scans the entire file before start playing - what makes no sense. Hopefully, Menno will address this issue soon.

:-)

Well, I need some time. The cooledit plugin is not my work at all, so I'll have to pass that probelm through (it should indeed read mp4 files at the moment).
The winamp plugin needs some more work I guess, I'll look at it when I have some time.

Ok, I hope whoever did the cool edit plugin can fix it ohmy.gif)

I have another bug for them too.. (who is it by the way?)

I make an .aac file in the usual way, Psytel 2.15
I play it in winamp, and go to file info... and edit the tag
I think I used standard tag, putting in track, artist, copyright etc.. (its my own song!)
I then try to load it in Cool Edit...
as soon as I click on the tag editted aac file, I get a box saying "Cool Edit is now shutting down... to continue where you left off, just load it again"

I haven't tried it with other tag editting programs, because to be honest, I want to use the winamp one, it's a lot more convenient.

Hope these bug findings are helpful? ohmy.gif)
