The 77th Oscars are tonite

I have to confess I was nearly bursting with tears when I found out that Charlie Kaufman and Michel Gondry won best original screenplay  Even though Eternal Sunshine got short-changed for the most part, for it to win one award was a triumph. Million Dollar Baby in my opinion was good but didn't deserve the best film of the year, and it mainly won due to politics (Morgan Freeman is a phenomenal actor and he did deserve to get an Oscar before his death, but the Academy should have given it to him for Shawshank Redemption; Thomas Haden Church was robbed). Also, I haven't seen The Aviator which won several awards but I'm not particular for Leonardo DiCaprio.

When it comes down to it, it's all politics. Kill Bill Volume 2 wasn't even nominated, and Tarantino is a genius. Eternal Sunshine was too "strange" and was released too early to be greatly considered.

Chris Rock did a decent job as host, I particularly liked the crack about Michael Moore doing his research on Super Size Me (even though there was a similar joke like that in The Onion, he re-worded it well). Especially, how the Jews were upset about the making of Passion of the Christ like the blacks were upset about the making of Soul Plane.

Oh and it was brilliant that Chris Rock brought up the fact that all genuinely black comedies were titled after places "The Cookout", "Car Wash", "Barbershop", "Beauty Shop", etc etc.

And the black version of the Incredibles would be the Aiiights.

I change my mind, Chris Rock was hysterical and was probably the best host I've seen. ever.
